This course is designed for non-mother tongue teachers of isiXhosa who are required to teach isiXhosa in Foundation Phase. It teaches basic isiXhosa classroom greetings and instructions through song. You’ll also be able to teach the downloadable song that you learn, to a group of Foundation Phase learners.
The course consists of 4 lessons neatly packaged into five minute slots. No faffing or fuss – it’s focussed, fast and fun!
The approach is uniquely practical using song as the main medium through which to learn. Each lesson teaches a few lines that build into a full song that you can sing with your class once you’re done. This makes it doubly useful! Learners, as we know, love to sing and they remember the songs.
The animated teacher, called Thandi, guides you graciously through the new language with images, text and colour to navigate vocabulary, spelling and simple grammar with ease. There’s a quick quiz at the end of each lesson and a quick review at the start of each lesson.
