I was in particular interested about the '' stop, drop, and read'' I think it is a great approach to helping learners develop such positive attitude towards reading. I can already picture it in my head with the whole school participating and actually adopting it as a culture.

The opportunity to take learners through the process of navigating a text for better understanding. Gaining further tools in the teaching and learning process.

As a teacher we are always calling on learners to read aloud in class without asking them if they would like to. What Jenna said about learners being nervous about being called on and not focusing on what is being read, resonated with me. From now on I will ask who would like to read instead of just choosing learners randomly to read.

This course is very relevant and informative, excellent strategies to use in ensuring learners understand what they are reading.

I really appreciated this course and even though it is more focused on grade 4 upwards, there are a few pointers I could use in the lower grades to prepare them for the future.

I have identified several new teaching methods that I think I could apply towards helping my learners. For example, the methods in "Associate reading with fun" encourages students to read which will be beneficial towards improving their recognition of words.
